Four Heroes Elementary School

Welcome to Four Heroes Elementary School!  

My name is Mrs. Akoni Guzzo, and I have had the honor of serving as the proud principal of Four Heroes Elementary since 2020. We are a vibrant and diverse learning community located in the heart of Lakewood, Washington, safely between the local fire station and police station, symbolizing the strong partnerships we maintain with our community. Even our school's name, “Four Heroes,” holds deep meaning, as it was chosen to honor four local police officers who gave their lives in service to our community. Their legacy inspires our school values of resiliency, service, and unity. 

At Four Heroes, we serve over 550 K-5 students and families, representing a wide range of cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Our talented staff works collaboratively and intentionally to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of every learner, and we take great pride in the inclusive, supportive learning environment we’ve built together. 

We offer a variety of engaging programs to support all learners: 

• Daily specialist classes in PE, Library, or Fine Arts for every student 
• A Dual-Language Spanish Immersion program in our Kindergarten grade level 
• A robust Multi-Lingual Learner (MLL) program that supports language development for qualifying students 
• Reading intervention services for students who qualify for additional literacy support 
• A strong special education program focused on inclusive practices that ensure every child has access to quality education, including two Life Skills classrooms that support students with varying academic and adaptive skills and needs 

We like to proudly share that Four Heroes Elementary is on the rise! Over the past few years, our academic data has shown steady and measurable improvement-- a testament to the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the support of our community. Due to this hard work, we were recently named a Washington State Recognized School for closing achievement gaps and seeing growth in all students! 

At Four Heroes, we believe all students are capable of success. Our mission is to meet every student where they are and ensure they grow—academically, socially, and emotionally—each and every day. We are PROUD to be on “Team Top Dog” and we look forward to welcoming you to our school community!
